COME AND TRY:

Just come down to Stradbroke Park from 8:15am on a Saturday morning to join Kew Little Athletics during the Track & Field season (October to March).  At the same time you are welcome to do a "Come and Try" session, joining in the morning competition to see if athletics is for you!

You can also "Come and Try" cross country. More information on Cross Country will be published when it's available.

HOW TO JOIN/REGISTER:

All registrations are completed on line through the Little Athletics Victoria website. Payment can be made by credit card during the on-line registration process.  Please note that we do not have EFT facilities for card payments at the centre.

Athletes need to be registered on-line by close of business on Wednesday to allow them to collect their registration pack (including their competition barcode patch) on the next Saturday morning.  Athletes who have registered later in the week must sign in as 'come and try' participants for the morning and their registrations will be processed ready for the following Saturday.

Please contact the Kew Little Athletics Centre Registrar via email registrar@kewlac.org.au for more information on registration.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS:

'Come and Try' and 'Bring a Friend' days are conducted at Kew LAC in the early part of each season. If you have missed them just turn up on any competition day at 8:15am and make yourself known to one of the Committee (in a maroon KewLAC shirt). Your children will be placed with their respective age/gender group and compete in a normal program.  Hopefully after this opportunity, Little Athletics is for you!

Little Athletics encourages participation, improvement and doing your best as the most important things for children between the ages of 5 and 15.  Children need to have been born by July 2015 in order to be able to register with Little Athletics as an "Under 6" athlete.

Please click here to determine which age group your young athlete will be in.

The Kew Little Athletics Track & Field program runs from October until March and is made up of activities and events including:

  • sprinting

  • hurdling

  • distance running

  • discus

  • shot put

  • long jump

  • high jump

  • triple jump

  • relays

The events are performed on a grass track which is more sympathetic to growing children’s joints than the red synthetic tracks.  Our program runs every Saturday morning, from warm-up at 8.15am, with events commencing at 8.30am.

Experienced coaches and/or volunteers are available to help you learn new skills and improve your standards and performance.  The skills developed through running, jumping and throwing activities – around which athletics is based – help with many skills including balance, timing, co-ordination, flexibility, endurance and strength.  These are skills used for many other sports too.

Little Athletics is one of the cheapest all year round sports costing $220 per child for 12 months registration.  Proof of age is required (birth certificate, passport, etc) at the time of first registration.  Additional coaching is available free of charge to all registered athletes of Kew LAC. Please refer to the Calendar section of this website to see what training is available each month.

Further information is available from registrar@kewlac.org.au.

At Little Athletics you will learn new skills and have fun making new friends.
