HANNAH
I began athletics in under 9's, and I quickly grew to love the majority of the events on offer. I continued through to under 15's and my favourite event was hurdles in which I represented Kew at a state level and made finals in multiple years. I have also competed in State Relays & State Cross Country and been a member of the JDS squad.
My proudest achievement with Kew was when I set the 80m hurdles record at the club, and in the same year was able to run in both the 60m & 80m hurdles finals at Olympic park before it was pulled down.
Various injuries sustained over the years have now limited my ability to train & compete but I have continued my interest with my current participation in seniors (Athletics Victoria) with the Box Hill club just for enjoyment.
My interest in working with kids and teaching led me to participate in the on track program, and I use my previous experience to assist me in coaching.
MEREDITH (MEZ)
Mez is a student going into her final year of schooling at Ruyton Girls’ School, and has been a part of the Kew LAC family for nearly 12 years.
As a young athlete Mez developed a passion for the throwing events, particularily discus, as well as the 400 and 800 metres runs, which has seen her represent her club and Victoria at numerous state and national events. In more recent years, Mez has trained to compete in the heptathlon event (7 disciplines) and the 400 metre hurdles.
Despite the increasing school workload and reduced training, Mez looks forward to helping out the On Track team every Saturday, with athletes that remind her of her younger self.
