Our Big News - Return to Modified Cross Country Training Wednesday 10 June!
KEWLAC has just been APPROVED by council and Little Athletics Victoria to RETURN TO MODIFIED TRAINING!
We are one of the first little aths clubs in Victoria to get this approval too - go TEAM KEWLAC!
Training will commence Wednesday 10 June 4.15pm-5.30pm, at the KEWLAC grounds: Stradbroke Park, 1369 Burke Road Kew East, and then will be held on the following two Wednesdays (17 and 24 June) until the schools holidays and then will recommence after school holidays from Wednesday 15 July.
More information about Return to Modified Training
As you will expect, training will look a bit different while we are still working through the COVID 19 situation. There are protocols that we need to comply with, which can be viewed here. But the key change is that all athletes must pre-register for training, just so that we can keep track of attendees.
If you would like to join us at training here is what you need to do:
pre-register your interest on the new KEWLAC TeamApp (see below for news about our new TeamApp!)
on arrival at training please see our new President Anna who is the KEWLAC COVID SAFETY OFFICER, and she will explain that we must (which seem quite stringent but are requirements!):
a. use hand sanitiser prior to commencement of training;
b. not touch club equipment;
c. not enter the club room;
d. bring our own and not share drink bottles;
e. cover our mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing/sneezing;
f. not touch other athletes including high-fives or hand shaking;
g. stay 1.5m away from other athletes and stand at designated cones, where relevant;
h. wash hands thoroughly after use of toilet facilities;
i. advise a coach or staff member to advise if little athletes are feeling unwell
3. After registering, parents/carers are to exit the venue and return to their car to wait for the completion of training.
New KEWLAC TeamApp!
Another big piece of news is that we are relaunching KEWLAC TeamApp!
You may recall years ago we used to use it. But now we are dusting it off again, and refreshing it for use right now. One of the key issues the new Committee sees with the club is that we need to improve communications with you all. You need to know what is happening at all times, and the people to contact if you have questions. TeamApp is just the tool to do this. It will allow us to keep you up to date with important news that you need to know, e.g. we can send notifications to you to let you know if we need to cancel training or a Saturday morning comp because of the weather. It will also include event dates and map details, as well as the ability to share photos.
TeamApp is associated with LAVic, LAVic encourages all Little Athletics Clubs to use it, and we have received fantastic feedback from other clubs about it too. You will receive a separate email shortly from TeamApp asking you to download the TeamApp app, search for Kew Little Athletics Centre and request access (or you can do it now!).
KEWLAC Member Survey
Another project that we have been working on in the background here at Team KEWLAC is the launch of the KEWLAC member survey!
We have engaged Club Builder to prepare a survey of our members. You will receive this in a separate email that will ask you questions about your thoughts about KEWLAC. This is YOUR CLUB and we want to hear what YOU THINK about it. Please tell us everything you think we need to know, even if it's small or negative. We need this information to grow into a GREAT CLUB for you. You will get the email Thursday 11 June and the survey will run for 11 days. We are looking forward to your feedback.
Looking forward to seeing the faces of our Little Athletes at training!

Message from our new President Anna Kiely
Hello Kew Little Athletes and families,
I am your new President and genuinely thrilled to be here, thank you for having me!
We have new Committee members too (welcome Matt Guthridge - Vice President and Mardi Versteegen - Registrar). Your new Committee (including Ben Commerford - Treasurer and Karen Choong - Secretary) proposes to REBOOT and REFRESH KEWLAC, and build a BETTER CLUB for you all. While we think KEWLAC has great foundations, we think there are a lot of things that can be improved too. We have been hard at work on new projects in the background which we will share with you. But please read on about OUR BIG NEWS!
