ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS: 'Come and Try' and 'Bring a Friend' days are conducted at Kew LAC in the early part of each season. If you have missed them just turn up on any competition day at 8:45am and make yourself known to one of the Committee (in a bright yellow vest). Your child/ren will be placed with their respective age/gender group and compete in a normal program. Hopefully after this opportunity, Little Athletics is for you! Little Athletics encourages participation, improvement and doing your best as the most important things for children between the ages of 5 and 14. Children need to have turned 5 by October 1st in order to be able to register with Little Athletics as an "Under 6" athlete. The Kew Little Athletics Track & Field program runs from October until March and is made up of activities and events including:
The events are performed on a grass track which is more sympathetic to growing children’s joints than the red synthetic tracks. Our program runs every Saturday morning from 9am with warm up commencing at 8:45am. On long weekends the program is held as a Friday twilight evening. Experienced coaches and/or volunteers are available to help you learn new skills and improve your standards and performance. The skills developed through running, jumping and throwing activities – around which athletics is based – help with many skills including balance, timing, co-ordination, flexibility, endurance and strength. These are skills used for many other sports too. Little Athletics is one of the cheapest all year round sports costing approx $100 per child for 12 months registration. Proof of age is required (birth certificate, passport, etc) at the time of first registration. Additional coaching is available mid week for an extra fee per child (for all age groups). Further information is available from the Registrar, Max York, via email or phone 9459 0836. At Little Athletics you will learn new skills and have fun making new friends. |
