 State Multi Event Wrap Up

We had 18 children who competed in this inaugural LAVic State event at the
new Lakeside Stadium. Some fabulous results and great to see so many of our
Kew athletes being Multi Event 1st timers.
Thanks to everyone for helping with duties - from Tony, Matt, Kath & Paul re
Team Managing etc.,. to all the other parents assisting with duties -
certainly makes everything go smoothly and the great thing about Multi Event is that
it is a relatively small crew so the kids & parents support all involved.

Well done to all the athletes with many PB's achieved over the weekend. I
would like to summarise some of the results, with a handful of Top 10
finishes as follows:

Saturday -  terrible weather for the older kids but they soldiered on.
U15B Damon  3rd (short-listed for the state ALAC
squad)
U14G Isabella  4th
U15B Henry  6th
U12G Meredith  7th

Sunday -  beautiful weather for our youngsters.
U9G Sophie  10th

For further details, please refer to www.lavic.com.au and go to Multi Event
/ results and you will be able to view total results of the 2 days.

Spikes ruling - Lakeside Stadium - Albert Park

I have managed to get a hold of the venue ruling in regards to spikes and starting blocks for the new Lakeside Stadium.

The maximum length of spikes is 7mm, and the only spikes allowed are conical and Christmas tree. No needle or pin spikes are allowed.

For High Jump, the maximum length for spikes is 9mm.

Please note: If an athlete chooses to do a crouch start with spikes, they must use starting blocks.

Can you please pass this information to your Centres, and can you please follow this protocol for Centre and/or Region Championships so that athletes are perfectly prepared and educated if they reach State level.

 EMR Wrap Up

Hi to you all. Hopefully everyone had a good night's sleep after a long
weekend at EMR camped out at Nunawading Aths Track. Well done to ALL our
athletes, from the young U9's through to the older U15's in their last
little aths season. You all ran well and competed to the best of your
ability with many athletes who made finals just missing out on medals. Many
fabulous PB's were made and some disappointed athletes as well who faced
very tough competition. We had our first official "walker" in many years:
Hannah Svozil who entered in her first walk competition and came 5th - Well
done! Damon Zethoven was the "Golden Boy" bagging 3 gold medals, closely
followed by Holly Hart and Isabella Dalla Costa with 2 each.

A HUGE thanks to all the Kew families - to the parents who put their hands
up to help out with duties and take over for others whose children were
unfortunately ill or injured and could not compete: we hope those children
are getting better very quickly. Thanks to Paul O'Connell for sharing the
mantle of "Team Manager" as Nick could not attend on Sunday - we hope Liv's
wrist makes a rapid recovery.

Thanks to Jenny McCausland and Garry Connell who came to the track all
weekend, leaving family behind even though their children are no longer
involved with Kew LAC.

Congratulations to all our athletes once again for trying their best - in
the sun, wind and rain.

All 1st placegetters are automatically through to State next month and
progressions will be advised once all the results across the regions are
collated. This should occur before the end of the week. State T&F will be
over the weekend of March 19th and 20th at Olympic Park. Please keep an eye
on our website over the next few days.

Eastern Metro Region results are at this website:-

EMR Track and Field , Feb. 19/20  Nunawading Aths Track

EMR is around the corner. Hopefully you are ready to rock over the weekend and put your best feet forward (the kids, that is!) and fingers crossed that we get a run in tonight at our Twilight competition.
· KEW LAC has 42 athletes competing in 120 events so good luck to you all and please support eachother – it’s easy to recognise our athletes in our maroon colours.
· Please print off the attached documents so you can check when you have a duty. You will also find the last version of the timetable as released on the 15th together with a list by age group of events and time and day. The listing includes heats only – if your child makes the final, you will see the time allocated on the Timetable provided PLUS, Nick and I will advise you. Parents - Please ensure you are in position at your allocated time. Athletes – please ensure you have allowed plenty of time to warm up and be in marshalling 20 minutes before your events.
· Kew LAC will take a tent down and our banner will be set up as well, hopefully under the awnings – so look out for our “Space”. Weather forecast is not great - Bring a change of clothing as well as socks, umbrellas etc. Get a good night’s sleep, bring plenty of snacks, drinks etc., try to relax between your events: try hard here and perform well and you MAY progress for State in 1 month at Olympic Park.

Multi Event Update and Open Days coming up

Well done to our athletes who competed at State Multi Event @ Shepparton Little Aths Centre over the past weekend. A physically and mentally tough challenging day competing against some of the state's finest had many of our athletes setting personal bests(PB'S). Congrats must also go to Shepparton for hosting(in conjunction with Little Aths Vic) the event on a magnificent grass track with barely a cloud in the sky.  A great weekend had by all who attended. We highly reccommend this event to athletes who really want a challenge.

Full results can be found on the following website :  Little Athletics Victoria
