2. Relays, Track & Field & State Multi Event Competitions – Important information for parents of U9 – U15 athletes regarding key dates for these events and the selection process for Region Relay teams. Please note preliminary relay trials will take place pre-season on 4th, 11th & 18th September. The registration fee for 2010/11 is $130 per child with a 10% discount on the gross for the third and subsequent children and includes the summer competition, winter cross-country competition, all relay championships, one track & field event at Region championships (for qualifiers), insurance levy and association fee. You’ll also receive a tee-shirt to wear on competition days at the centre.Parental participation is essential for KewLAC to run successfully, as such all families will be given duties based on Surname to allow activities to run smoothly. Should you have a “Working With Children Check”, please provide details as this will help us to meet our Little Athletics obligations.

A great effort by all our athletes at the state cross country champs held at Geelong Racecourse on August 1. Very windy conditions but luckily the rain stayed away . Special mention to these athletes for their brilliant individual performances - Ava - 1st U/7 invitational event, Kate - 4th U/9, Chow - 1st U/10 State Champ, Megan - 2nd U/12, and also a great effort by the U/10 boys to take out the team event - Chow, Anthony & Lucas. Well done all , u should be proud of yr efforts in a very tough competition.

Distance runners - here is yr chance for some good team fun. Reminder for all KEW LAC Families, we need u for a working bee at the Kew clubrooms - Saturday July 17 , 9am - 2pm approx. If u can swing a hammer, use a paintbrush or just sort thru some old files, then we need you !! Pls come along n help support yr club as we prepare for the new 2010/11 summer season of Little Athletics. All welcome.
This sunday July 18 is the final day for Eastern Metro Region cross country. A 10am start with program B in action. Pls note runners need to be pre-qualified for this sunday's meet by having raced 3 times on a Sunday within our region. If u unsure if u have qualified then send Matt an email : mattbatem@gmail.com for confirmation.
All keen cross country runners pls note the last chance for a race before State Champs is the Essendon Open Day @ Moonee Valley Athletics Track, Corio St. Moonee Ponds, Melways 28 C6. All keen cross country runners pls note we will now offer 2 weekly training sessions at Stradbroke Park in the lead-up to State Cross Country Championships. So every Wednesday and Friday , from 4.45pm - 5.30pm effective July 7. All welcome.
A very cold start to the day did not deter the strong contingent of Kew runners who braved the cool weather and challenged themselves over a very good course. Plenty of medals on offer and once again our runners collected a swag of the shiny stuff. Well done all.
With just on 4 weeks to go until STATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPS its a good time for all our athletes to get into some solid training. Hills,hills n more hills , try to get 2-3 sessions every week. For all the regular trainers at Stradbroke Park on a Wednesday 4.45-5.30pm, we will continue to train right thru school holidays . For any Kew summer (09/10) athletes thinking of competing at STATE , get yr entry in and come n train with us at Stradbroke Park, all welcome.
All Kew parents who are registering children for STATE CROSS COUNTRY - August 1, can u pls send Matt - Kew XC Coordinator an email confirming entry asap so he can enter kids in the "TEAM EVENTS" . Remember that entries for INDIVIDUAL STATE CROSS COUNTRY close on July 14, no late entries will be accepted. The "TEAM EVENT" entries close July 16.

Each year the Eastern Metropolitan Region conducts Coaching Camps for athletes
in the U10-U15 age groups. Athletes from the Centres within our Region may
attend these Camps at a venue just out of Alexandra. These Camps are aimed at
improving an individual’s knowledge and technique.

The tough conditions at Ruffey Lake Park yesterday did not hamper any of our runners, who slogged it out thru the wet course and did us all proud. Some outstanding individual runs and brilliant team efforts meant many Kew runners collected medals on the victory podium. Full results are available here. A big thank-you to all the Kew parents who braved the elements and performed their duties with smiles.

Next Sunday - June 27, we racing at BOX HILL OPEN DAY - WATTLE PARK,SURREY HILLS( enter via Riversdale Rd. Melways 60 J3). First event is at 10 am sharp - program B.
Training as per usual next Wednesday evening 4.45pm- 5.30pm.
EMR Champs tomorrow - June 20. Will be a big day at RUFFEY LAKE PARK, DONCASTER, 1st event is at 10am sharp. Good luck to all Kew runners. Parents have all been advised via email of EMR duties for tomorrow, we thank u for yr involvement. We also have a planned dinner tomorrow night at COLOMBO's FAMILY RESTAURANT, BALWYN from 5.30pm, so far we have 46 parents n kids confirmed, if u would like to join us then pls advise Lisa or Emma at the KEW tent tomorrow morning.
