Competition Program 2009/2010

 

ON TRACK PROGRAM

The program for the U6 – U7 athletes operates on a three week rotation.  It commences at 8:45am on a Saturday morning and 5:30pm on Twilight evenings.  Program A will run before Christmas.  Program B will then commence on a three week rotation with the inclusion of a third competition event.  The aim of this program is to provide the children with a good mix of skills coaching and competition.  On Track children are given a priority at jumping and running events to ensure children only wait a short time for their event.

U8 – U15 PROGRAM

 

The program for the U8 – U15 athletes operates on a three week rotation.  It commences at 8:45am on a Saturday morning and 5:45pm on Twilight evenings.  The aim is for each event to be run an even number of times during the season so the program can be altered at times to ensure this is achieved.  In October the U9 – U15 athletes will run additional sprints (100m and 200m) to finalise relay qualification times.

 

In the event of bad weather some events can be cancelled during a morning or deferred a week. If the weather is forecast to exceed 35oC for a Saturday athletics competition then the program will commence at 8am with the aim to finish no later than 10am.

 

Parental participation is essential for the Kew Little Athletics Centre to run successfully.  No program of Little Athletics competition can be held without the help of parents to act as officials, help supervise the children and record results.  Each week a minimum of 40 parents are needed to run the Track and Field program.
