A small group of dedicated Kew LAC athletes drove out to Bendigo with their
families supporting them loudly. The weather was hot and windy and difficult by
the end of the day when our athletes ran their 800m events. Congratulations to
all the younger children who competed on the Saturday and the older athletes who
competed on the Sunday. Many PB’s were achieved which is everyone’s primary aim.
Detailed results can be found on the VLAA website (www.vlaa.com.au) whilst our
athletes’ details follow. Well done to you all and good luck for the upcoming
EMR Track & Field round over the weekend of February 20th and 21st.

Several of our Kew
LAC athletes have represented Victoria over the last few days in Sydney. An
amazing experience was had by all 3 of these athletes – Olivia Carah 10Y/O G
High Jump, Noah Chambers 11Y/O B Long Jump, Isabella Dalla Costa 12Y/O G Multi
Event. All our athletes did amazingly well in their first National competition
with all 3 feeling a bit nervous initially. Well done and congratulations to all
of them for a great few days of competition.
Congratulations to Caroline Lane who has entered raced her way into the semi-finals of the Victoria’s Fastest Kid competition that is currently in progress. This is to be included as part of the Australian Track Classic Zatopek:10 on Thursday December 10th at Olympic Park. There have been 2 pre-qualifying events where Caroline has already raced to get into the semi finals running a PB on the way. At this stage, there are 32 children remaining in the competition that come from across Victoria (16 boys and 16 girls). Well done Caroline and Good Luck from Kew LAC for the 10th.
All children will compete in our Club Multi Event this Saturday. Each child will do the five events across the morning – 100m, Long Jump, Discus, 80mH / 90mH & 800m. Points will get totalled up based on your time or distance and overall winners per age group will be announced the following Saturday, December 12th with prizes being awarded. Please ensure you run your fastest and throw or jump your best as you will score more points this way.

It’s time to consider which events our U9 – U15 athletes might like to compete in for EMR Track and Field which occurs over the weekend of February 20th and 21st, 2010 at Knox LAC. Athletes can enter a maximum of 4 events at $5.00 per event with Kew LAC paying for your first event. A draft timetable will be posted shortly to give you a guide as to events – suffice to say the 200m & 800m are always on the Saturday with the 1500m, 100m and 400m on the Sunday. Hurdles are split over the weekend. Field events are also scattered over the weekend depending on age group so it’s a good idea to plan your timetable to give you enough recovery time. Entry Forms and payment will be handed out this Saturday that need to be returned to Kylie Italiano, Nick Carah or Manuela Dalla Costa before our Christmas breakup. Parents will be allocated duty/duties depending on number of children competing, number of events entered and duties allocated. Athletes who progress will compete at Olympic Park over the weekend of March 20th and 21st so keep these dates in mind when selecting events. R E M I N D E R

Congratulations to all the Kew LAC children for a great effort on Sunday at the
EMR Relays held at Doncaster LAC. A day full of smiles for many and new
experiences for our U9’s and many other athletes. Relays really are the main
opportunity for many of our athletes to have fun together over the day. Thanks
to all the parent helpers who happily did their duties as well as Garry Connell,
Kylie Italiano, Nick Carah, Jenny McCausland, Manny Dalla Costa, Kathleen
O’Connell, Mandy Lane, Josephine Arthur, Stephanie Larkin, Matt Owen and Lochie
O’Connell for all their help preparing our athletes for this fun, team event.
Thanks also to the Team Managers who have helped coordinate training sessions.
Photos from the day are attached, with some photos coming from other centres.
Click HERE to see more Photos. Full results with Qualifiers and Progressions should be available by the end of the week. Automatic qualifiers are all teams who competed in the 4 x 100 events and 4 x 200m events that came in the top two places. In addition, for all the medley events, the 1st placed teams are automatic qualifiers. Progressions will be determined once all results across the state are collated. Well done once again from us all and keep up the training – State Relay Championships will be held at Olympic Park on Sunday December 13th for successful teams.
Attached HERE is the Final EMR Relay Teams List with training schedules. See you at training this afternoon. Click HERE for the Program to this Sunday competition at Doncaster LAC, Rieschiecks Reserve, (George St, East Doncaster - Mel 33 J11).
Regional Relays is a very busy day and can be somewhat chaotic given the large
number of children and teams to organise.
